CAAT PEERS:  A Social and Relationship Building Skills Program for Teens and Young Adults with Autism Spectrum and Related Social Learning Disorders

Location: Virtual 

Registration: To register for either the teen group or the young adult group, submit an online application.

Dates: The teen group and young adult group both begin Tuesday, February 9 and run 5:00 PM -5:30 PM for 16 weeks.

Child ages: One group is for teens (13-18); the other is for young adults (18+).

Led by Center for Assessment And Treatment (CAAT) certified PEERS® providers, this 16-week evidence-based social and relational skills intervention program for motivated teens (13-18) and young adults (18+) who want to make and keep friends. Note that there will be two PEERS groups, one for teens, and the other for young adults. Parent/Caregiver participation is required.  

Teens/Young Adults will learn:

  • How to start and maintain a conversation
  • How to develop relationships
  • How to appropriately use humor
  • How to manage conflict and rejection
  • How to handle rumors and gossip
  • How to respond to bullying/teasing
  • How to find sources of friends

Parents/Coaches will Learn:

  • How to support your teen/young adult in making and keeping friends
  • How to expand your teen/young adult’s social network
  • How to provide appropriate and effective coaching
