SibStrong is a “By Siblings, For Siblings” organization for siblings of people with autism and other intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. We provide communities, both in-person and digitally, where siblings can connect, get support, share experiences, and access information. Every person is at a different place on their sibling path, and we believe there is value in bringing siblings together from across the spectrum of age and circumstances.

Our gatherings provide space for siblings to get together with others around their age to connect over shared experiences, discuss issues unique to siblings, ask questions and access information. These totally free gatherings are held for each age tier on a rolling basis approximately every 8 weeks.

• Youth: (11-16)
• Young Adults: (17-22)
• Adults: (23 and over)

While the gatherings are all virtual during COVID, once it is safe to do so, SibStrong will begin to hold in-person gatherings in addition to continuing virtual meetups as well. There are no minimum requirements for taking part—siblings can join as often as works for them. For many participants, this is often one of their first opportunities to meet and interact with a group of fellow siblings. Recognizing the value of connecting siblings, our youth gatherings are facilitated by vetted and trained adult and young adult siblings involved with the organization, while young adult groups are facilitated by adult siblings. Our sibling facilitators have been instrumental in serving as role models and sounding boards, answering questions younger siblings have and empowering them in their roles.
