This online session through our Professional Collaborative will review strategies for making information about sexual health accessible, frameworks for responding to difficult questions, and resources for continued exploration of this topic. Registration cost is $10 and certificates of attendance will be provided. 

In partnership with stakeholders in the field, Ivymount's Professional Collaborative serves as a learning platform to drive effective services and connections and to grow the education community more broadly, through events like this.

Goals of this training include:  

  • Provide a space for open learning and discussion about the complexities of sexuality education in a supportive environment
  • Consider barriers to sexuality education for individuals with I/DD
  • Practice using the "Teachable Moments”, “Scarborough” and “What’s Your Hypothesis?” frameworks to answer questions, present information, and respond to topics of sexual health effectively and respectfully
  • Explore tips for talking to other stakeholders about these topics 
  • For professionals: Learn how to teach sexuality education in a way that focuses on facts, rather than personal values, and uses inclusive language
  • For families: Learn how to discuss sexuality education in a facts based manner, while infusing your family’s personal values and using inclusive language
  • Share resources and answer questions
