Date: Saturday, November 9, 2024.

Time: 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Location: Montgomery Blair High School, 51 University Blvd E, Silver Spring, MD 20901. It’s a big school — so please park in the parking lot off of University Blvd (not the parking lot off of Colesville Rd). Use the cafeteria entrance, which is the entrance closer to the baseball and softball fields. This is the end of the building farthest from Colesville Rd.  We will put up signage to help you find us!

Cost: All xMinds events are free!

Schedule your individual consult:  To schedule a free individual 25-minute consult appointment you MUST sign up for a specific time-slot through the IEP Clinic Signup Genius Form. You will receive a link to the IEP Clinic SignUp Genius Form in the confirmation email you'll receive when you register for this event. (Check your junk mail if you don't see this email immediately after registering.) 

UPDATE AS OF 11/7 AT 5:00 PM: Currently all our consultation slots have been filled. BUT, put your name on the waitlist on the SignUp Genius Form and come on Saturday. Every year we have no-shows and we usually can accommodate those on the wait list. But you have to be present to grab those open spots!

Come to get your most pressing IEP question answered for free by an education advocate!  

In addition to individual private IEP consultations for people with scheduled consults, Education Attorney and Advocate Frances Shefter will give a presentation:

"Empowering Parents: How to Prepare for a Successful IEP Meeting," followed by question and answer sessions.

Schedule:

1:00 to 4:00 -- individual consultations in classrooms for people with scheduled consults

2:00 to 3:30 -- Presentation in the cafeteria by Frances Shefter

1:00 to 4:00 --  Professional service providers will staff tables in the cafeteria

Snacks:  Snacks will be available.

ACTUALIZACIÓN DEL 7/11 A LAS 5:00 PM: Actualmente, todas las plazas para consultas están llenas. Sin embargo, puede agregar su nombre a la lista de espera y presentarse el sábado. Cada año tenemos ausencias y generalmente podemos acomodar a quienes están en lista de espera. ¡Debe estar presente para aprovechar las plazas que se liberen!

Tendrá una consulta individual de 25 minutos, en español, en persona, con un defensor educativo.

Además de las consultas privadas individuales de IEP para personas con consultas programadas, la abogada y defensora de educación Frances Shefter hará una presentación:

"Empoderar a los padres: cómo prepararse para una reunión del IEP exitosa," seguido de sesiones de preguntas y respuestas.

Cronograma:

1:00 a 4:00 -- consultas individuales en aulas para personas con consulta programada

2:00 a 3:30 -- Presentación en la cafetería por Frances Shefter

1:00 a 4:00: proveedores de servicios profesionales atenderán las mesas en la cafetería.

Ubicación: Montgomery Blair High School, 51 University Blvd E, Silver Spring, MD 20901, en la cafeteria. 

Es una escuela grande, así que estacione en el estacionamiento de University Blvd (no en el estacionamiento de Colesville Rd). Utilice la entrada de la cafetería, que es la entrada más cercana a los campos de béisbol y softbol. Este es el final del edificio más alejado de Colesville Rd.  ¡Colocaremos carteles para ayudarte a encontrarnos!
